The group of nature lovers from Seven Hills would like to say a special THANKS!!
Your knowledge and the beauty of the river left us all with the warm feeling that old Florida was still alive and in safe keeping. Thanks for taking care of the reservations at Stumpknockers  we all loved the meal.A lazy river boat ride and and wonderful meal with a knowledgeable host - what more could one ask?I also think you will get many more bookings from our group.  Thanks again    Jayne Rediger

Capt.Mike we were on your river cruise on 2/01/08.We enjoyed it very much, especially your knowledge of the river and the way you handled the boat while I was taking pictures. Dick White,New Jersey

Hey, Capt. Mike.....    We had such a great time with you and my brother and his wife (from the western slope of Colorado) were impressed and enjoyed our tour very much.It was peaceful on the Withlacoochee.  Best wishes in all your ventures and adventures!  Mozelle McKenzie, 9775 E Baymeadows, Inverness FL 34450.  jmckenz5@tampabay.rr.com.  352-344-0070

Just to let you know that all 6 of us enjoyed our tour from Dunnellon on Wed. Nov. 28.Johnny and I will be contacting you again and, hopefully, will get to go out from Stumpknocker's.  We enjoyed the tour so much that we may be looking at going out for longer than an hour.I purchased Death on the Withlacoochee from the bookstore in Dunnellon before we took your tour. Can't wait to get started on the book. When I am finished with this one, I will probably get Murder on the Withlacoochee.Johnny and I especially enjoyed hearing about the wildlife.  I understand from friends that the tour from Stumpknocker's is one where you tell some history of this area.  I am looking forward to hearing of the history since we live just down the road on Rt. 200.Thanks again for showing our friends a great time. PJ and Johnny Rodriguez

Dear Captain Mike: Not every person is able to handle getting in and out of a canoe under normal conditions let alone be blind and try to do it. The blind folks that took advantage of your pontoon boat were very happy to take the ride down the river in comfort and safety. The Blind American's want to thank you for providing us with your pontoon boat. It sure made it nice for our participants.                Thank You, Robert Krokker,  President of Blind American's Inc.             blindamericans@naturecoast.net   6055 N.Hwy 200 Hernando,Fl.  352-637-1739

We would like to thank you for a wonderful tour this morning...  The information was great and the scenery awesome.  My photos aren't too bad so I wanted to send you one of the Morph Heron...   Also a decent shot of the tricolor heron and one of an immature Ibis. Thanks again and we will be back later this year for another trip up the river..           Juanita Bosse

After getting a house in Citrus Hills two years ago we often drove past the Withlacoochee on highway 200 without paying it much attention. Thanks to your tour we finally got to see the beautiful nature and scenery in our new back yard - not to mention the great knowledgeable narration.  Thanks for a great time,   Andrew Rybalko and family

Just to let you know that my husband, Van, our visiting relations and I enjoyed your Withlacochee River cruise today.  Your narration was absolutely marvelous.  You are certainly an individual who is not only quite down-to-earth, but also most articulate and informative.   Your manner and style of conducting your cruises is most welcomed and very much appreciated. Thank you so much for a delightful morning.

I got on Ron Johnson's web site to see if he had published his next book after "Death on the Withlacoochee".   How nice that he also includes your web site.I have been on your cruise a couple of times.  I think your web site is great.  Love the photos.  Gives me the urge to travel with you for a couple hours on the Withlacoochee again.  We have some friends who are moving to The Villages next month.  Will try to set a date with them so they can also enjoy a couple hours with you on the river.  Of course we will do dinner after at Stumpknockers.
Hope to see you soon. Barb Ryburn

Thanks for a splendid morning.  You're a terrific ambassador of a fine old river.  I hope to arrange a sunset, moonlight combo cruise, if that can be realized.   Best Regards,       Paul McWilliams

Thank you for the great cruise Sunday, May 6th. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Being fairly new residence of Florida but long time visitors to the Ocala area it was interesting to learn all that you shared. Our friends have only been to the usual tourist spots so they really liked seeing the back roads. Thanks for finding me a couple of gators.  Colleen

The trip Wednesday evening was great despite the stormy skys. Our entire group of ten thought the rain actually added to the feeling of adventure.  Nice job, Mike.

Article by Bob Woods:Cruise Away an Afternoon on the Withlacoochee River
What a way to spend a late afternoon and evening, just sitting back relaxing after a full meal observing everything as you slowly glide by on a pontoon craft skippered by a certified ECO-Heritage Guide whose vast knowledge of what you are seeing will astonish you.
To elaborate a little, a small group of us On Top of the World residents decided to take a short cruise on the Withlacoochee River; you know the river heading south on Route 200 from On Top of the World where the river separates Citrus and Marion counties.
Try this on for size. Make reservations on Captain Mike's Lazy River Cruises and ask for a sunset cruise from Stumpknocker's Restaurant. Now after I mention the restaurant you all know where I am talking about. We, the group of adventurous On Top of the World residents, met at the restaurant for an early supper at 4 p.m. After enjoying a wonderful meal we stepped out the restaurant's front door and headed toward the river where our floating chariot was waiting.
Capt. Mike greeted us as his craft was waiting as scheduled. This evening, our group opted for a three-hour river cruise because, as we were told, the temperatures would be more comfortable than an afternoon cruise when the sun's rays would be the hottest in the summer. We were joined by two additional couples seeking the same relaxing experience.
Capt. Mike explained practically everything we saw along the river, giving us many historical comments. This guy is like a living encyclopedia. As he explained, the Withlacoochee is one of three rivers in Florida that runs in a northerly direction and is more than 100 miles in length starting someplace he mentioned down near Tampa and emptying in the Gulf at Yankeetown.
Each trip he takes, and he has been doing this over nine years, is different. You see different things and different types of wildlife on each trip. You can see all types of animals from raccoons, bobcats, boar, deer and river otters to all types of birds including wild turkeys and birds of prey, to Florida's famous reptiles such as snakes, turtles and of course, gators.
Capt. Mike's cruises range in length from one-hour to an eight-hour cruise. Of course, prices vary depending on the length of the cruise. I would definitely call a few days ahead and make reservations. You can get information on Capt. Mike's by calling (352) 637-2726 or on the Internet at http://www.lazyrivercruises.com/.
We had such an interesting and relaxing river cruise that we plan to take an eight-hour trip. Who knows, maybe we will see you on a Captain Mike's Lazy River Cruise.
